Audits are a useful tool to assist in the identification of activities which may need improving in order to develop a safer and more efficient working environment. Audits can also assist in promoting a safety focused culture within an organisation and, used properly, can lead to a reduction in accidents in the workplace.
On construction projects Site Safety Inspections will assist in demonstrating that organisations are complying with their legal duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations in any of the Client, Principal Contractor and Contractor roles. Inspections, conducted at either key events or at random over a period of time, will identify ‘non-conformances’ and check if specific tasks are covered by Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
Audits and Site Safety Inspections are equally as important on non-construction premises, such as schools, offices and factories, where they can assist organisations in developing a safety focused environment.
