HSE stats on workplace deaths and injuries

The main categories of fatal accidents for workers were falls from height (29); struck by a moving vehicle (20); and struck by a moving object (18). Over the same period there were 65,427 non-fatal injuries to employees reported to RIDDOR. The report also estimates that there were 1.6 million working people suffering from a work-related illness in 2019-2020, which is an increase from previous years. Of these, 800,000 were suffering from work-related stress, depression or anxiety and 500,000 from musculoskeletal disorders. In total there were 38.8 million working days lost due to work-related ill health and non-fatal workplace injuries in 2019-2020.
