CDM Co-ordination

In April 2007 the Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) Regulations 1994 and Construction (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1996 were brought together under the CDM Regulations. The purpose of the Regulations is to improve the health and safety of the workplace by placing legal duties on all those involved in projects who can influence and contribute to these areas.

Aegis has highly qualified CDM Co-ordinators able to advise clients on health and safety throughout the life of a project. All Aegis CDM Co-ordinators are registered members of the Association of Project Safety (APS) and meet the competence levels required in Appendix 4 of the HSE Approved Code of Practice for CDM. Aegis staff also have a wide range of specialist qualifications and knowledge within construction and engineering to draw upon.

For those projects of less than 30 days in duration and of less than 500 person days in scale, which do not require a CDM Co-ordinator to be appointed, Aegis can still provide a CDM Advisor to assist clients with health and safety matters.

Since 1995 Aegis has been appointed as CDM Co-ordinators and Advisors on over 3,000 projects, ranging from small refurbishments to projects over £250 million in value.

In 2010 Aegis was runner up in the CDM Co-ordinator of the Year category of the UK Builder and Engineer Awards, for the company’s work on 610 Building - a machining facility for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter at BAE Systems, Samlesbury. The award was sponsored by the national trade magazine ‘Builder & Engineer’ and the panel of distinguished judges included the HSE and the APS.
