Case Study - CDM Co-ordination

Titanium Machining Facility, BAE Systems, Samlesbury

Aegis was appointed to the CDM Co-ordinator role for the work to install a titanium machining facility at
BAE Systems, Samlesbury, which opened in October 2010. The facility will be used to manufacture detail
and assembly components for the F-35 Lightning II aircraft and took eight months to install and commission.

The facility comprises two computerised Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS), each of which contains
eight large hard metal milling machines, two long spar longeron machines and is supported by a number of
secondary operations.

The project demonstrates the ability of Aegis to provide CDM Co-ordinators capable of ensuring that
specialist engineering projects are delivered safely.
