Aegis was awarded the contract to be CDM Co-ordinator for the construction of St Monica’s High School Vocational Centre in Bury. The centre was built on land next to the existing school and was built to provide modern teaching accommodation for personalised high quality work-related learning for 14 to 19 year olds. The courses that will be taught in the centre include Hospitality & Catering, Performing & Production Arts, Sports & Fitness, Hair & Beauty, Media Studies, and IT & Business Studies.
The building consists of three curved elements located around a central open plan space, which is intended to act as the hub of the building, providing for lectures, performances, social gathering and a dining space.
The project was completed in May 2011, with the building opening for teaching in September 2011.
